We will aggressively pursue your claim and seek to recover maximum compensation for your injuries. If you have suffered as the result of a car accident, do not wait to contact Weiss Law Office, S.C.
Ultimately, the goal is to hold the driver and/or their insurance company responsible for the cost of all of your accident-related medical care. However, the other driver’s insurer will not pay your medical expenses as you incur those bills. An auto liability carrier will not issue rolling payments for treatment you receive. Rather, the at-fault insurance company will offer a one-time settlement typically after you have completed your medical care and the full extent of your injuries is known.
This is why it is so important to understand how to manage your medical expenses from the time of an accident through the time when you are ready to settle your personal injury claim. Typically, your bills should be sent to and processed by any available health insurance plan. If you carry your own auto insurance, you may also have access to coverage known as “med pay” (medical payments benefits). However, depending on the language of your health insurance plan, you may need to exhaust your med pay benefits before any health insurance benefits can be used. If your health insurance policy does not have this type of excess coverage language, you should use your health insurance and rely on your med pay benefits to help offset things like out of pocket expenses and copays.
Clear as mud? Navigating insurance coverage is difficult, and it can be especially overwhelming after an accident when you are not physically or mentally feeling your best and you are navigating additional stress due to unexpected medical expenses.
Our personal injury team can support you through this process and help make sense of your medical bills after an accident.
In Wisconsin, drivers are required to carry automobile insurance. However, the required coverage is woefully inadequate.
